Beanie & Knit Cap Digitizing

Beanie and knit cap digitizing: extra underlay and open designs that keep logos on top of stretchy ribbed knit instead of sinking into it.

About this service

Knit beanies are the hardest common garment to embroider. The ribbed knit stretches in the hoop, relaxes afterwards, and swallows fine detail between the ribs. Beanie files need heavier underlay to build a stable base, slightly bolder elements so nothing gets lost, and compensation for the knit's recovery. We also keep designs within the height of a folded cuff, where most beanie logos go.

How we build it

  • Heavier underlay that lifts stitches above the ribs of the knit
  • Bolder, slightly simplified details so thin lines don't disappear into the texture
  • Sized for folded cuffs, usually around 1.5–2 inches tall
  • Compensation for knit stretch so the logo doesn't distort when the fabric relaxes

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Ribbed knit stretches and has deep grooves, so thin stitches sink and details blur. Beanie-specific underlay and bolder shapes keep the design readable.

Yes, the folded cuff is the most common placement. We size the design so it fits comfortably within the cuff height with room around it.
