About this service
Tiny text, such as a tagline under a logo, small-print on a patch, or a name on a sleeve, fails with standard digitizing: satin columns become too narrow to hold and letters blur together. Micro-text needs its own approach: simplified letterforms, run-stitch or narrow satin construction, and careful spacing. We'll also tell you honestly when text is too small to work at your size.
How we build it
- Letterforms simplified and slightly opened up so counters (the holes in 'e', 'a', 'o') don't fill in
- Narrow satin or run-stitch construction chosen by letter height
- Minimal or no underlay under tiny letters to avoid bulk
- Best stitched with a fine needle (65/9 or 60/8) and 60-weight thread; we note this in the file
